Fusion Projects transformed a former auto body shop in Richmond into an 18,000-square-foot early learning centre. Comprising 12 classrooms with capacity for 196 children, the project reimagined an existing commercial building as a welcoming environment for learning, play, and connection.

Delivered across two phases, the renovation required the demolition of the entire interior to accommodate the building’s new use. The first phase, encompassing approximately 12,000 square feet, was completed in just over four months, establishing a substantial portion of the learning environment within a focused construction schedule.

At the heart of the centre, a large cherry blossom tree creates a distinctive focal point in the central foyer. The high ceiling and two new skylights bring natural light into the space, emphasizing its sense of height and openness while creating an inviting arrival experience for children, families, and educators.

A generous play space at the rear of the building is another defining feature, complementing the classrooms with room for movement, exploration, and interaction. Together, these spaces balance the practical needs of a large learning centre with elements that encourage curiosity and engagement.

The completed project reflects Fusion Projects’ ability to adapt existing commercial spaces for entirely new uses. Through a phased construction approach and the execution of distinctive architectural features, a former industrial interior was transformed into a bright and engaging early learning environment.
